1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using readtheplan ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

readtheplan provides free, open-source tools for analyzing infrastructure changes, classifying risk, and generating compliance evidence. The project includes:

Local tools: The CLI, GitHub Action, MCP server, agent gates, adapters, rules, and evidence tooling.
Public website: Documentation, demos, a browser-local playground, static tools, and an optional AI project guide.
License: The software is free under the MIT License. There is no paid or enterprise tier.

3. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Maintaining the security of credentials used in your own local or CI environment.
Ensuring that any infrastructure plans you analyze do not violate applicable laws or third-party rights.
Not using the Service for any unlawful or abusive purpose.

4. Data Handling

The local toolchain processes infrastructure artifacts on your machine or CI runner. Raw plan JSON is not transmitted to readtheplan servers. Do not paste secrets or raw infrastructure plans into the optional website chat; chat messages are processed by DeepSeek as disclosed in the interface. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Intellectual Property

The OSS components are licensed under the MIT License. You retain ownership of any plans, configurations, and outputs you generate. readtheplan retains ownership of the Service itself, including its code, branding, and documentation.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. readtheplan does not guarantee that analysis results are error-free or that the Service will be uninterrupted. Infrastructure changes carry inherent risk; always review plans in a staging environment before applying to production.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, readtheplan shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

8. Termination

You may stop using the public website at any time. Local toolchain usage is governed by the MIT License and runs independently in your environment.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date above will change when the public terms change.
